KR6X.com Terms of Use and Spam Control Policy

The purpose of this webpage is to provide information regarding KR6X.com's License to Access Web Site and Spam Control Policy and the steps KR6X.com will take to try to prevent unsolicited email from reaching its boxes. KR6X.com Inbound Sending Policy

KR6X.com is not an ISP nor a business.  This is a family home network.  KR6X.com is interested in making sure that its family members receive all of the email that they want, while minimizing the amount of unsolicited email that gets to their mailboxes. KR6X.com therefore defines the following guidelines, hereafter referred to as our "Inbound Sending Policy" for other sites wishing to send email to KR6X.com boxes:

Technical Guidelines:

All incoming email messages will be subjected to scrutiny by automatic means for the purpose of rejecting a high percentage of viruses, pharming attacks, and unsolicited commercial email. All email must comply with the relevant RFCs which define the protocols for exchanging email between two sites connected to the public Internet.  This includes Sender Policy Framework per RFC4408. All email servers connecting to KR6X.com’s inbound email servers must have valid reverse DNS entries (i.e., all sending IP addresses must have active corresponding domain names in DNS). All email servers connecting to KR6X.com’s inbound email servers must be secured to prevent unauthorized use (may not be an open proxy, router, relay, or similar). Connections from dynamically assigned IP addresses (dial-up accounts) will be rejected by KR6X.com’s inbound email servers. Connections from domains or IP addresses may be subject to rejection by KR6X.com’s inbound email servers if they have a known history of sending unsolicited commercial email or of attempting connection that does not comply with relevant RFCs. English is the accepted language of most users of this system.  Emails in another language or character set have an elevated risk of rejection. Your internet reputation is based partly on your adherance to this policy. Policy violations will be reported, and other email servers may reject your email messages based on your violations with this server.

Email Formatting Guidelines:

All email must comply with the relevant RFCs which define the protocols for exchanging email between two sites connected to the public Internet.  Some non-complying e-mails may be received and repackaged as attachments, but many will be silently dropped without notice. Senders must not do anything that attempts to hide or forge the sender of the email and sending site of email.

Policy & Procedural Guidelines:

All email to KR6X.com’s members must be solicited (i.e., there is an existing and provable relationship between the email recipient and the sender). KR6X.com reserves the right to discontinue delivery of email from a sender for any reasons at its sole discretion.

KR6X.com’s efforts to control the flow of unsolicited email into our networks could be correctly typified as proactive, rather than reactive. This means that in general, we will start to refuse email from its servers or networks in anticipation of violations of our Inbound Sending Policy wherever possible.  We typically do not refuse email from sites for which we have no evidence of online violations extant; however, certain countries that never send welcomed e-mail, but have a history of sending unsolicited commercial email to this server are permanently blacklisted.

It is also worth noting that despite the automated nature of KR6X.com’s efforts to control the flow of unsolicited email into our system, we can make exceptions for individual senders.  Contact postmaster…at…KR6X.com if you are in need of whitelisting.

Also worth noting is that KR6X.com’s automated efforts focus on analysis of the content of the email. Our decisions to refuse email are not based simply on the source of the email (i.e., IP address of the server attempting to send the mail.)

KR6X.com Block List Policy and Your Internet Reputation

To control the flow of unsolicited inbound email, KR6X.com utilizes several lists of networks and IP addresses from which its inbound servers will refuse all email messages.  The result of this is that if someone sends an email message and the IP address of the sender's SMTP (mail) server (or the network in which it resides) is on one of these lists, then the incoming email is refused or has an elevated probability being classified as unsolicited commercial email and thus will be rejected.

If the IP address is part of a network space that KR6X.com has reason to believe is an ISP’s dial-up or dynamic space, we are already blocking the encompassing network. If the IP address has a recent history of sending unsolicited commercial email, has been tested and is an open relay, or has a recent history of activity consistent with infected systems or other bot nets, we are already blocking the address. Otherwise, KR6X.com will use an objective scoring system, based on a reputation built from available public information about the IP address, to make a decision as to whether or not to block the IP address.

In addition to this objective scoring system, if the IP address has no valid reverse DNS (i.e., queries for its PTR record return "NXDOMAIN") the IP address may be blocked regardless of its rating in our objective scoring system.

The parts of KR6X.com’s internal list that are not comprised of servers and networks that have sent unsolicited mail to our members are one of the following:

Network space that is known by KR6X.com to be in another provider's dynamic space; our confirmation source for such space would be the other provider itself. This space may be identified by either number (i.e., the IP address of the connecting mail server) or name (i.e., the PTR record of the connecting IP address). Network space that is believed by KR6X.com to be in another provider's dynamic space. This space would be identified by name as matching generic naming patterns culled from our own server logs. KR6X.com believes that such generic names indicate dynamic space. Domain name-based patterns that match domains which have in the past had a reputation for sending signifcant volumes of unsolicited email; this reputation may continue to the present day. Network-based patterns for space that was known at one time to be occupied by senders with reputations for sending significant volumes of unsolicited email; this reputation may continue today, as may the presence of those senders in the specified networks.

KR6X.com Inbound Rate Limiting Policy

KR6X.com has instituted rate limiting on inbound email to some boxes. These steps were taken so that KR6X.com could better protect its email system from abuse from malicious, compromised, or improperly configured systems.  Sending systems who are affected by this rate limit will receive a 4XX series message during the SMTP transaction indicating a delay in acceptance of messages.

KR6X.com Whitelisting Policy

Whitelisting is at the discretion of the person receiving the email.
